DESCRIPTIONS

1. Thursday - Not really the best song from the new album, but... it's got a line about Three Mile Island, so that's a good reason to pick it right there.

2. Aqui - new crazy metal band on Ace Fu. Wow.

3. Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - It just makes me sad to hear it, but it IS a nice song.

4. Matmos - That record with all the surgery sounds on it just gave me the willies like you wouldn't believe (and i eventually gave it away to a friend just to get it out of my apartment), but this track is awfully nice.

5. Paul Westerberg - New album. I'll have to hear the whole album before I can pass judgement.

6. Grandpaboy - And another Westerberg album apparently means another Grandpaboy record. I don't know if he's going to keep releasing them in conjunction like this.

7. Vanishers - An old friend's new band. And pretty good.

8. The Rosebuds - North Carolina power pop band people are really excited about. I really want to see them live.

9. Brazilian Girls - A friend is starting to manage them. Kinda in the Mono / Bebel Gilberto world. Nice.

10. Man Man - Another new Ace Fu band, and... it's super bizarre. But... kinda catchy. Sorta a cross between the New Bad Things and the Chicago Bears doing the Superbowl Shuffle.

11. Ryan Adams - Who would have guessed I'd be able to segue pretty seamlessly from Ryan Adams into The Stills? What an interesting new direction for Ryan, and I can't say that I don't like it. U2, anybody?

12. The Stills - I don't like this band live. I didn't like their early demos. But damn if they didn't make a pretty good album.

13. The Ocean Blue - Of course, The Stills aren't doing anything that my central PA boys The Ocean Blue didn't do 14 years ago, and, well... they did it better, of course.

14. Bob Mould - This song popped into my head for absolutely no reason like two weeks ago. i only own it on vinyl, and it took me that long to grab a copy from kazaa.

15. Billy Bragg (1) - Was talking about Billy Bragg with the Clearlake boys last week. These two songs both came up.

16. Billy Bragg (2) - Two of my favorites ever. Touching, touching songs. I can honestly say I almost cried the first time i saw Billy Bragg do this song. I think it was at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly. Almost.
